Accessibility Statement
Last Updated: March 28, 2026
RecipeCookHub is committed to making our website accessible to everyone — including people with disabilities. We believe everyone deserves to enjoy a good recipe, and we want the experience of using this site to be as easy and comfortable as possible for all visitors.
Our Commitment
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA standards as defined by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines help ensure that web content is accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive impairments.
Measures We Take
We actively work to improve accessibility across the Site. The measures we take include:
Semantic HTML Structure
Our pages are built with proper HTML heading hierarchy (H1, H2, H3) so that screen readers and assistive technologies can navigate content logically. Landmark regions (header, main, footer) are clearly defined.
Alternative Text for Images
Images on this Site include descriptive alternative text (alt text) so that visitors using screen readers can understand the context of visual content. We aim to write meaningful alt text that describes what is shown rather than just labeling an image generically.
Keyboard Navigation
The Site is designed to be navigable using a keyboard alone. Interactive elements — including links, buttons, and form fields — can be reached and activated using the Tab key and other standard keyboard controls.
Color Contrast
We aim to maintain sufficient color contrast between text and background colors across the Site, in line with WCAG 2.1 Level AA contrast ratio requirements (minimum 4.5:1 for body text).
Readable Font Sizes
Text on the Site uses relative units so that it scales correctly when you increase or decrease the font size in your browser settings.
Link Clarity
Links are written with descriptive text so that their purpose is clear when read out of context by a screen reader (e.g., “View our full Privacy Policy” rather than just “click here”).
Video Accessibility
Recipe videos on our YouTube channel include spoken narration. We are working toward adding captions to our videos over time. YouTube’s built-in auto-captioning is available on our videos through the YouTube player.
Known Limitations
We are a small team, and while we do our best, we acknowledge that some areas of the Site may not yet fully meet accessibility standards:
- Some older published recipe posts may have incomplete alt text on images — we are gradually updating these.
- Embedded third-party content (such as YouTube videos and Google AdSense ads) is subject to the accessibility practices of those providers, which we do not directly control.
- Some complex recipe tables or formatted lists may not be fully optimized for all screen readers.
We treat these as ongoing improvements, not permanent limitations. We are committed to making progress over time.
Browser & Assistive Technology Compatibility
RecipeCookHub is designed to be compatible with modern web browsers and commonly used assistive technologies, including:
- Screen readers (such as NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver)
- Browser zoom and text resize features
- Keyboard-only navigation
- High-contrast display modes
