How This Started

When our daughter was born, eating out stopped being an option most nights. We were exhausted, running on broken sleep, and ordering takeout three or four times a week because neither of us had the energy to think about dinner. The food was fine. The cost wasn’t. And honestly, we both knew we could do better.

So we made a deal: one new recipe a week. Just one. Alex would handle the savory stuff, Christina would take desserts, and we’d cook together on weekends. Some of those early meals were terrible (there was a lasagna incident we don’t talk about). But most of them were surprisingly good. And after a few months, we had a growing collection of recipes that our family genuinely loved eating.

Who We Are

The Savory Side
Alex
handles everything savory on RecipeCookHub. He grew up watching his grandmother cook for a full table every Sunday, and that’s where his obsession with comfort food started. Over the past decade he’s become the go-to dinner person in our household, specializing in casseroles, one-pan meals, and the kind of hearty food that feeds a family without requiring three hours of prep. His approach is practical: real ingredients you can find at any grocery store, clear instructions that don’t assume you already know what you’re doing, and portions that actually make sense for a household of three. When he’s not testing a new ground beef recipe for the fourth time, he’s out playing soccer or building block towers with our daughter.

The Sweet Side
Christina runs the dessert side of things. She learned to bake from her mother, who had a rule: if you can read, you can bake. That stuck. Eight years later, Christina’s the reason our kitchen always smells like something sweet is happening. She focuses on recipes that don’t require special equipment or obscure ingredients. Brownies that work every time. No-bake desserts you can throw together after dinner. Cookies that taste like you spent hours but actually took twenty minutes. She tests every dessert recipe at least twice before it goes on the site, because a dessert that only works sometimes isn’t a recipe worth sharing. Outside the kitchen, she’s usually chasing our toddler or wandering through Belgrade’s outdoor markets looking for seasonal fruit.

What You’ll Find Here

We publish detailed, step-by-step recipes with honest cook times, real ingredient measurements, and notes about what actually matters during each step. Every article includes a printable recipe card, storage instructions, and answers to the questions we get asked most. We also film video walkthroughs for select recipes on our YouTube channel so you can see the textures and timing in real time. Curious about what goes into each recipe before it hits the site? Read about how we create our recipes.

Most of our recipes fall into a few categories: hearty casseroles, quick weeknight dinners, simple baked desserts, and no-bake treats. We lean toward comfort food because that’s what our family eats. Nothing on this site requires a trip to a specialty store or equipment you don’t already own.

Why People Come Back

  • Every recipe is tested at home first. We cook it, our family eats it, and we adjust it until it’s right. If something doesn’t work on the second try, we scrap it.
  • Instructions that don’t skip steps. We write for people who want to know exactly what to do, not just a vague list of ingredients and “bake until done.” You’ll know what the food should look, smell, and feel like at every stage.
  • Affordable, everyday ingredients. No truffle oil. No high-end grocery runs. We cook with what’s in a normal kitchen, because that’s what we have.
  • Honest about effort and time. If a recipe takes 90 minutes, we say 90 minutes. We don’t count “inactive time” as free time or pretend that prep takes five minutes when it really takes fifteen.
